Why we're different

There are many furniture stores competing for your business. Why settle for "commercial grade" offerings when you can have custom designed and handcrafted pieces that are exactly what you envisioned?
Guided by our philosophy of building quality furniture to last a lifetime we've combined the following together forming a unique approach to custom furniture design and construction:
Engineered Designs - Last time you moved a piece of furniture or sat in a chair did you hear a "pop"? That's the sound of a joint failing. Too many of these and soon the furniture is ready for the trash heap. To combat this all our pieces are designed to minimize flex. This protects the furniture joints, keeping them tight and sound for generations.
"Mulitiple Joinery" Technique - Most commercial grade furniture relies upon nails, brads, or screws as their primary joining mechanism. Our joints are constructed using mortise & tenon/hardwood doweling/tongue & groove techniques (natural wood-in-wood joinery), high strength wood screws (when necessary for additional strength), and only the best glues. These combinations provide the strongest and longest-lasting wood joints possible.
Superior Quality Hardwoods - Ever reach behind your dresser or end table and push on the rear panel? You were probably surprised to find 1/8" composite board, or worse, cardboard. Maybe you scratched the top of your "solid wood" sofa table and were disappointed to find it to be veneered fiber board?
All of our furniture is constructed of rough-milled quarter-sawn white oak, american cherry, african mahogany, or Sapelli, and finish-planed to desired thickness. Where needed only the highest-quality hardwood plywoods are used when dimensional stability is a must.
Exceptional Drawer Quality - Drawers are often used as a shortcut area in "commercial grade" furniture, often constructed of plywood and joined with staples or brads and glue. All our drawers are 13/16" solid hard (sugar) maple, joined via half-blind dovetails and high strength glues, fitted with aromatic cedar bottoms, and ride on traditional waxed hard maple runners.
Solid Hardware - All knobs, pulls, and handles are cast from high quality brass, bronze, copper, iron, or pewter.
Beautiful Finishes - While many furniture manufacturers use toppings, lacquers, and other methods to give a smooth and slick appearance we strive to give the wood a deep, nearly three-dimensional look making the warmth and beauty of the wood the key attribute of the piece. To accomplish this we employ a 12 step finishing process using proprietary stains or dyes and urethane-oil blend top coating, all which combine to provide a long-lasting first-class finish that'll take your breath away.
